The beginning of 2022 is also the beginning of the two-year project „Multidisciplinary care for inclusive education of learners with spina bifida and hydrocephalus”, also called Multi-IN. The project is implemented in partnership between the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus-Bulgaria Association and the Center for Early Intervention Trnava (Slovakia).
Both partners unite experience and expertise in the Multi-IN project. Their aim is to improve the inclusion and safe participation of children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus in the mainstream education system by promoting the development of supportive, positive and diverse environment where the students with special needs will develop their full potential. This aim goes directly in line with the priorities of the Erasmus + Programme to promote equal opportunities and access, inclusion, diversity and fairness and to address the barriers related to disabilities and health issues. It is the Erasmus + Programme that finances the project.
In order to achieve effective inclusion of students with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, within the Multi-IN project, the partners will develop a set of tools to support the main stakeholders in the educational process. They will develop General Guidelines for multidisciplinary Care and inclusion, a set of specialized Manuals and Training Video Courses for eight target groups. Multi-IN has identified eight target groups of teachers, principals, special teachers, personal assistants, school psychologists, school nurses, students with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and their parents. The Multi-IN project will target all of them in order to support the multidisciplinary care and inclusion of students with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
In January, the partners will meet in Slovakia for the first Multi-IN transnational meeting.
